Clear Christmas Cards

Here is the cards we made for the November Club Meeting.  We did a few differnent things with these...generation stamping, rock and roll and we also decorated a clear card.

Clear cards are awesome to decorate. But there are a few tricks to decorating them. First off there is a protective plastic coating on BOTH sides of the clear cards that you must remove before you attach your cardstock. You can do this by scratching your fingernail along a corner until it starts to lift then just peel back along the whole card. Then repeat that for the other side.

Another thing to think about is the adhesive you will use. Liquid glue will not work. The best thing that I have found to use is the ATG gun, that I use (my all time favorite adhesive) or Liquid glass. These will work the best. Also you must think about where you place your adhesive, so it does not show on the back side. For this reason I keep my adhesive a little ways in from the edge of the cardstock I am gluing. Also I place another piece of cardstock on the back to cover the adhesive on the back side.

Now for the fun part…I place some of the smaller elements on the front of the clear card and the larger pieces on the inside of the card to give it that 3D look you are going for. The best thing is to just sit down and play with it so you can see for yourself just how fun these clear cards can be.

Joy

Here is a layout done with pictures taken last year on Christmas Morning.  It is Novalees's first Christmas.  She looked so cute in her Christmas dress.  Christmas this year will be fun too...as she will be able to open all them toys herself!
I did not write down what I used for this layout so there will be no recipe for this one.  Sorry.

Seasons Greeting from Edwin

Another Maggie Christmas card made!  This little cutie is Santa Edwin.  He is reading over his naughty list.  I hope I am not on there…ha-ha.  I used the Mistletoe striped paper but I wanted to add some glitter to it so…I took my quickie mini glue pen and traced over the red lines and sprinkled some micro fine glitter on there.  Then shook of the excess glitter and replaced it back in my jar.  The end results in some homemade glitter paper.  I also added some Polar white diamond flower soft for the fur trim on Santa Edwin.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart unless otherwise noted.

All Through the House...

This is a really cute board book that I made.  I actually made it to do a class but I have been having some medical problems this fall so I think I will just post it as artwork and I will fill it up with pictures that I take this Christmas season.
One thing I would like to point out is the board book itself.  These are really easy to decorate for any occasion. You can find them here on my website.  They are a very sturdy book. The pages are strong and I don't think you can bend them if you want to.  Great for long time keeping.  I think the next one I decorate will be for my new baby granddaughter we are expecting in February.  I cannot wait!

The supply List is really short for this book and all supplies are from Close To My Heart.

For the hat and scarf I stamped the image onto the patterned paper and just cut out the parts I wanted and glued them onto the whole stamped image with my quickie glue pen.

TIP: When working with the opaques, it is really helpful to pick them up off the backing sheet with the tip of your paper piercer. The fine point of the paper piercer makes it easy to pick up and transfer to your artwork.
