Maggie Card Kit

A while ago I participated in a Magnolia Kit swap. This is where each participant made up “kits” containing some colored cardstock, patterned papers, some embellishments and at least one stamped Magnolia Image. We made up 6 of the same kits and swapped them for 5 different ones and the hostess gets to keep one kit for the time and effort it takes to bring the swap all together…believe me it is worth more than one kit to do this…thanks Audrey Benno our hostess!

This card is made up from a kit from Elaine Atterbury. It came with way more embellishments than I placed on my card and two patterned papers that I just couldn’t make work with the card I had in mind. I will place the remaining items on other cards that I create later on.

I also used the Atyou Spica pens. These are really pretty in person. You get a very fine glitter where you put them without the thickness of glitter glue. It is about as thick as ball point pen ink. Great for very fine areas. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it for the end result in my opinion.

Copics used are:
Skin: E000, E01, E02, R20
Hair: E31, E35, E25, E27
Hair Bow: R37 and Red Spica
Dress and Socks: G40, G82
Candy Canes: R000, R29
Bow on Present: R000, R02
Present: G85 and Gold Spica
Pinafore and Shoes: W00

I also used the Petite Oval Small and Scalloped Large

Clear Christmas Cards

Here is the cards we made for the November Club Meeting.  We did a few differnent things with these...generation stamping, rock and roll and we also decorated a clear card.

Clear cards are awesome to decorate. But there are a few tricks to decorating them. First off there is a protective plastic coating on BOTH sides of the clear cards that you must remove before you attach your cardstock. You can do this by scratching your fingernail along a corner until it starts to lift then just peel back along the whole card. Then repeat that for the other side.

Another thing to think about is the adhesive you will use. Liquid glue will not work. The best thing that I have found to use is the ATG gun, that I use (my all time favorite adhesive) or Liquid glass. These will work the best. Also you must think about where you place your adhesive, so it does not show on the back side. For this reason I keep my adhesive a little ways in from the edge of the cardstock I am gluing. Also I place another piece of cardstock on the back to cover the adhesive on the back side.

Now for the fun part…I place some of the smaller elements on the front of the clear card and the larger pieces on the inside of the card to give it that 3D look you are going for. The best thing is to just sit down and play with it so you can see for yourself just how fun these clear cards can be.

Seasons Greeting from Edwin

Another Maggie Christmas card made!  This little cutie is Santa Edwin.  He is reading over his naughty list.  I hope I am not on there…ha-ha.  I used the Mistletoe striped paper but I wanted to add some glitter to it so…I took my quickie mini glue pen and traced over the red lines and sprinkled some micro fine glitter on there.  Then shook of the excess glitter and replaced it back in my jar.  The end results in some homemade glitter paper.  I also added some Polar white diamond flower soft for the fur trim on Santa Edwin.

A Maggie Challenge

I was so excited when I participated in a Kit Swap through the Magnolia Group and received this little cutie…I can Fly Tilda from Karyn Nale. (Thanks so much Karyn for the kit!)   It is one image that I do not own so I had lots of fun coloring her up.  In the kit from Karyn came the papers that I used as well, except for the desert Sand and Colonial White cardstock.  I also added the crochet flower and the little flower bud.

I am also participating in the MAGNOLIA-LICIOUS Pink and Yellow CHALLENGE.  You can see that here   I have never participated in a challenge before so this was extra fun. The only stipulation was that I had to use pink and yellow. So here is my card.

All Through the House...

This is a really cute board book that I made.  I actually made it to do a class but I have been having some medical problems this fall so I think I will just post it as artwork and I will fill it up with pictures that I take this Christmas season.
One thing I would like to point out is the board book itself.  These are really easy to decorate for any occasion. You can find them here on my website.  They are a very sturdy book. The pages are strong and I don't think you can bend them if you want to.  Great for long time keeping.  I think the next one I decorate will be for my new baby granddaughter we are expecting in February.  I cannot wait!

The supply List is really short for this book and all supplies are from Close To My Heart.

Take Time to Smell the Flowers

It is time for another edition of Maggie Mondays.
I really liked the way this little cutie turned out.  Her hair was a little tricky to get the right shadows in it but I am really happy with the coloring on her.  I also colored her to match the Caboodle papers from Close To My Heart.  That is a great thing about the copic markers; you can match them to almost any papers.  I also used my R22 Copic to color the white pearls to match.  And I used my newest punch from Martha Stewart…the linked trim.  When I seen this one in the store I immediately knew I was going to weave a strip  paper through it.
Here is the inside of the card.

Ta Da!

Are you like me and cannot remember when things in your life happens, or when you bought some things?  Other than when we built our house I cannot remember when other things happen.  So I decided to make an album of when things happen in my life.  This is one of those layouts.  When we purchased our penning alley...one of the greatest things we ever acquired!  It helps in keeping my family safe when they are working with cattle.  I always worry about them when they are out doing that sort of stuff.
I took the layout from our new how to book, Magic.

Born to Shop!

Welcome to Maggie Monday!  This Monday I have made an easel card.  These are quite fun to make and they sit nice on the shelve for display.  I used the Tilda Goes shopping stamp from Magnolia.  I also used LOTS of pearls on this card.
Here is a close up of the bottom half of the card.  It says "little moments make life great".  I also used my Copic Air Brush system.  I have had this for ages and only used it a few times, so I thought I would use it on here to give the half circles some color.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween.  I just love Halloween, I decorate my house at the beginning of September so I can enjoy them longer!  It is my favorite occasion to decorate my house in...yes I like it even better than Christmas.  LOL
I also just these little monsters.  They are sooooo cute!  They also make me smile when I look at them.  Haha.  I like to color or paint so when I first seem this stamp set I knew I wanted to color them with my Blending pen.
This is very easy to do but it does take a little practice ...just like anything else.  You can see the blending pen here
First off I stamp my image with Black Archival Ink.  This will not bleed when you use the blending pen with it.  If you use just regular dye based ink your ink will bleed into your coloring and you will have a mess.  So, use archival ink.  Staz On would work too.  For the color I take the Gypsy (or any other color I am working with) and squeeze the ink pad together to transfer some of the ink to the lid of the ink pad.  Then with my blending brush I pick up a small amount of ink from the lid of the ink pad and start coloring my image working from the outside towards the inside.  Then I pick up more color and continue the process until I am satisfied with the coloring.  To clean my blending brush swipe it on scrap paper until no more color comes off the tip and then you are good to use it on another color.  This will take some practice as the amount of ink you pick up will determine how dark your coloring is...if that makes sense?  So to get your shading right you will have to practice...but do not give up...it works great!
Anyhow here is the items I used for the cards...All supplies are from Close To My Heart unless otherwise noted.

It's A Beautiful Day

Welcome back to another edition of Maggie Monday.
This little cutie is called Flower Girl with Petals #3040 from Magnolia.  She can be used on a variety of cards not just wedding cards.   One of the things I did was used my Liquid glass as a paint.  I squeezed out a small amount onto some wax paper and picked up some on a fine paint brush and painted her shoes after I colored them.  It is hard to see in the photo, but they have a real nice shine to them.  They look like satin shoes.  I also took the guard off my corner rounder to make the scalloped edge on the paper mat.  This is not hard to do, just turn the corner rounder upside down so you can see where you are punching and line up the edge of the paper in to corner rounder.  It is easier to do than to describe how to do it.  Trust me.  LOL

All supplies are from Close To My Heart unless otherwise noted.

Scrapbooking Class

November Scrapbook Class

We will be using the NEW Memory Protectors Flip Flaps 12 inch assortment. These enable you to place lots of photos on the two pages. I have 9 photos on my layout but you can place lots more instead of the stamping.

You can see in the top photo how your layout will be placed in your album.

This is the left page opened. The flip flaps are placed on the left and right sides of the layout to open up like a gate or doors.

This is the right layout opened. It opens up on the top and the bottom.

This layout is really easier to do than it looks, but there is lots of cardstock that needs to be cut for this 2 page layout. For that reason, I will have the cutting done for you so you can concentrate on putting it together and doing the stamping.

Class Date: Thursday November 11th at 7pm.
Cost for this 2 page layout is $18 to cover the cost of the page protectors and flip flaps.
You must pre-register by Monday November 8th by calling me at 854-2928

Amsterdam

These are more pictures from my travels to Europe two years ago.  Wow...time flies. When we were in Amsterdam, I found this BIG leaf that looked like the Maple Leaves we have in Canada only 10 times bigger.  It turned out it was a Sycamore leaf.  I just couldn't get over the size of it.  Anyways, if you do happen to travel to Amsterdam, I would recommend to go in the fall it is really beautiful there that time of year.
