It is looking a bit more like Christmas

_8147321 christmas joy 2011 (Small)

Wow, The weather here today is really wild.  We are in the middle of a good old blizzard with forecasts of more than a foot of snow with wind.  So, with it looking a bit more like Christmas, I thought I would post my Christmas layout today.

Don’t you just love the new Pear and partridge Paper? I love the traditional Christmas colors with a bit of brown. And With the instructions included in the Workshops on the Go kits, it makes for an afternoon (or evening) of creative bliss. This kit teaches a few tricks that you may not have thought of before, like mixing 1st and 2nd generation stamping in one cluster, Layering rub on images with stamped images and even layering rub ons on top of each other. There are more little tricks too but I will leave that for you to discover when you put your own kit together. You can buy your Pear and partridge Workshop on the Go Here

Spellbound Scrapbook Layout

_9197828 The fun is in the discovery (Medium)

I really liked the Spellbound paper packet from The Workshop On the Go kit shown on page 14 in the Fall/Winter 2012 idea book but I never have Halloween Parties. Just because it comes in a party kit does not mean you have to used it for party decorations. I used mine for scrapbooking.

I have lots of things going on in this layout:

· I gathered the black tulle Ribbon topped with pear ribbon as an accent

· I made a bracket with the Artiste cricut cartridge and stamped with a coordinating frame stamp then my title

· I sponged sunset and pear ink onto the Color ready Arbor pumpkin shapes

· I made curly cues with waxy flax for the pumpkins

· I used my bracket border punch onto black and sunset cardstock for a nice accent

· I stamped tabs from the Confidential Stamp set, cut them out and layered onto the layout. I also added the dates to these.

· I used the 4x6 flip flaps to add some extra photos.

· I used scraps of paper to make some banner flags on the left page.

· I added some pear brads for accents

My Toopie…

_2056641 my toopie (Medium)

I knew I had a couple of 5x7 photos that I wanted to use so I went looking through my CTMH Sketch books and came across the sketch Jazzy Combination in the Imagine book. I used the basic sketch but I tweaked it to make it more my style.

I used the Pemberley paper packet as well with the general colors that coordinate to the paper but I also wanted to use a little bit of Sunset as it was the color of Goofy…or I mean Toopie’s shirt. LOL

For the embellishments I used the Color Ready Garden shapes and colored them with desert sand, then highlighted them with Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel. I really like this stuff. It goes on fine using the micro tip and you can spread it around with the same tip. I also left a little spot to either place a sparkle or a pearl.

I used liquid glass on all the dots in the background and Texture paper. Just a subtle little bit but it does look really nice in person.

Another thing I did was to make my title from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge but I want to weld the letters together so they are one piece instead of individual letters. To do this I went to the cricut website and downloaded their FREE program called Cricut Craft Room. You can do some pretty cool things there. You need to hook your circuit up to your computer and once that is done you can start playing. OMG…try it out for yourself is all I can say.

_2056643 detail (Small)

One last thing I did was I made the scalloped border with the corner rounder. I took off the guide that goes around the punch so I can punch a strip instead of a corner. I turned the punch over to the backside so I can see and punched starting at one side making sure to line up the little V at the bottom of the punch where your corner would normally go. Then I moved the punch over so I could just see where the last punch was made then moved it just a little farther, maybe an 1/8 of an inch, really guessing at the distance then punched again. I continued on doing this for the length of the paper. I think it turned out beautiful!

Lucy Workshop On The Go

_2266763 Maddison will always be my girl (Medium)

I made this layout loosely following the Lucy Workshop On the Go. I mean loosely, as I made several changes so that it barely resembles the original workshop. This is one thing I absolutely love about the workshops on the go. You have complete instruction to make the always fabulous layout or you can use the instructions as a starting point to make it however you feel like. One of the major changes was to use different background paper. I just like the flowery paper for this layout better than the one in the inst4ructions. I also did a different title, embellishment placement and even where I put the 2x2 photos. So you see, my own style.

Winter Paper used for Summer layout

_C036035 swimming with the dolphins (Medium)

I like to think outside the box sometimes. I like to show you how to use your supplies for uses other that the “Normal”. That is why I choose the Wonderland Paper to make a layout about swimming with the dolphins. Wonderland paper can be used for layout other than winter. So next time you reach for paper, try and think of uses other than Normal.

Art Philosophy Layout

_B105830 cuba horse and buggy (Medium)

I really like this layout. It is not cluttered, has some simple lines and yet looks superb!

For the bracket I used the Art Philosophy cricut Cartridge that is exclusive to Close To My Heart. I cannot seem to say enough about this cartridge. There are 700 different images on it. Couple that with 6 different functions and many, many sizes you end up with thousands of images!  You can purchase the Art Philosophy Here

To make the bracket I used a sheet of 12x12 Pacifica Cardstock and the Square3 button on page 43 (or C3...third image on the third row). I cut this at 10 ¾ inches. I then cut another one using Colonial White cardstock and at 9 ¼ inches. I then layered them and attached them to the layout.

For the Flowers I mixed up a little bit of Sorbet reinker with pearl create a shade paint and painted it on my white flowers.

January Spotlight Blog Hop…Scraps

Welcome to the January spotlight blog hop. If you have come from   Nikki Geers Blog you are on the right track, unless you start here.

_C286409 maddison riding car (Medium)

This month we are spotlighting scraps. Scraps can mean a bunch of things when it comes to scrapbooking but I am going to focus on using the little bits of scrap paper left over from a favorite kit.

For this layout I used a 1.5 inch strip of cardstock and on it placed 1.25 inch squares of different papers that were in my Sofia paper kit to form a focal point across the layout.

One other thing I did was use a scrap of paper that was left over from a class I did. One of the ladies stamped the inside saying of her card in the wrong orientation (horizontal instead of vertical) so instead of throwing out that paper I used the other side to make a mask for my spritzed leaves. To do this I cut out the Leaves from my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge on the messed up cardstock. I used the negative space for my mask and spritzed it with sweet leaf reinker mixed with rubbing alcohol. So, another great way to use up your scraps.

And another thing I do with any leftover little bits of paper I have is I either cut something out of it using the Art Philosophy Cartridge or I use my punches to punch out a shape. I have these left over images stored in a little sand pail at the moment. I may find a better place for them sometime but the sand pail works for now.

Family..today and everyday

For this layout I used the Dreamin papers. These papers now come double sided and cardstock weight and it was so hard to choose which side I wanted to use. So after much flipping of the papers I decided that this combination looked best. I paired this paper with the coordinating My Stickease and the Harvest Charms. Close To My Heart makes it so easy to do this when they make embellishments to match. The only stamping done on this layout was the date.

Pontoon Fun

I love this sketch from the Magic How to Book. It is called On With The Show. It is a very simple layout, one that doesn’t use a whole lot of paper too! Another plus of this sketch is that it uses 4x6 photos. Lots of my customers only have 4x6 photos as they get them printed out at places like Wal-Mart or Superstore and do not have their own photo printer at home to use.

One thing I did do on this layout is to color the Color the chipboard letters that spell Oak Lake. First, I colored the top part with sweet Leaf ink using my finger dauber and rubbing in tiny circles all over the top of the letters. Next I used Crystal Blue in and did the same thing in the middle part of the letters. Lastly, I finished them off by applying Indian Corn Blue to the bottom of the letters using the same technique with the finger dauber. This gives a nice tri-color appearance. Just remember to start with the lightest color and work your way to the darkest color.

Little Miss Personality!

Isn't she just adorable in her little hat! She actually likes hats on. Kids at play are fun to take photos of too!  I just found these photos of this layout that I made last spring.  The paper pack Caboodle went perfectly with the pictures of Novalee.  I sponged ink over top of the dimensional Elements then stamped on them.

Miles Of Smiles

Another layout of my darling granddaughter Novalee. She is such a happy little girl full of smiles and when I snapped this photo I had the layout in mind already.
I used a Martha Stewart Punch, the Eyelet Lace, to punch around the bamboo cardstock. This is a set of two punches where one punches the corner image and the border one lines up exactly to punch around the rest of the page. I also used one of the On Target Circles and covered it with cardstock to match the layout. I stamped the date on cardstock, punched it out as a circle and placed it in the middle of the flower with a Circle Window charm on top. The window charms are discontinued now, but I still have some left so I will be using them up.

Winter layout in Spring!

I still have one layout I made of winter and I wanted to get it posted before summer came so here it is. These photos were taken in my yard. It is so pretty with hoarfrost on the trees.
I used the Glitter Rub Ons for the snowflakes. These are so easy to use. You just rub the snowflake on like normal, then take the glitter sheet and place over the snowflake and rub again transferring the glitter. These do look way better in person.
I also used another Cherish Layout...Double take on Page 102. Using these sketches make for quick layouts.

My Mom, My Friend

It doesn't seem like I scrapbook too many things other than my Granddaughter lately so I did this layout of my Mom. She turned 75 last year (I will get to those pictures sometime...). She loves to scrapbook and make cards too. Both my daughter and my son's girlfriend scrapbook too.
It is wonderful that we get to share that.
For the flowers on this layout I used actual flowers on the patterned paper that came with this kit and cut them out. What a great idea to get something to match. Sometimes we forget to look at the things right in front of us to use. I also used a pattern out of the Imagine How To Book...Ensemble Piece on page 40. This also uses the January Stamp of the Month True Friends.

Photos, Photos and More Photos!

Every Boxing Day until January 3rd my photo processor has a 9 cent print sale. What a deal! I look forward to this sale all year. I do believe, that even though I went digital a few years ago, that photos should still be printed to be admired. So...800 hundred photos later...

Now with all these photos I dug out one of my new stamp sets, Save the Date D1386, and stamped the date on the back of all my photos with stazon ink.

Now, I did not get too technical with the date only the month and year. I did not worry about the exact day.

I sorted all the photos into chronological order and placed them into my photo albums. You can see this picture at the top. On the spine of these albums I made tags with the year on them and labels as to the occasions or events like Lake Photos, Christopher and Becki's Wedding, Family Photos etc. This saves a whole pile of time when you go hunting for a certain photo. I did discover this system when I took a Library Of Memories Class taught by Stacy Julien at Big Picture Scrapbooks. It was one of the best classes I ever took and well worth the money.
So...this is where I have been spending my time the last couple of days. Now that I am done I will get some time to do more scrapbooking.

Happy New Year and Uncle Terry and Me

Happy New Year everyone! Oh my goodness, 2009 flew by in the blink of an eye and I sure hope that 2010 will go a little slower!
