Scrapbooking With Victory

_3307023 Terry's House (Medium)

For this layout I used the Victory Paper Packet. This is a really versatile paper and can be used for just about any layout.

I really like the Color Ready wooden garden shapes too. For these I took my chocolate ink pad and sponged on some color right on to the wood the attached some Mocha Opaque's Pearls for some dimension.

I also used the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge and cut out the Scalloped Square for the focal point. I cut it on the Square 2 shape using the decorative layer function and at 10 3/4 inches.

What inspires you?

_3186972 Little Darlings (Medium)

How do you scrapbook? What do you start with? Your Photos, Paper, a new Sketch? Maybe a color combination? I usually start with a paper packet. In this case I used Lucy. Then I went to my photos, and picked out a few that went with the paper, then I looked for a sketch that fit the photos I wanted to use. That is the order that I usually scrapbook to. What do you start with? What inspires you?

I did use Cricut Craft Room to cut my title so that I could weld the letters together.

Happy Thoughts

To make this card I used the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. I used the card Feature and used the square3 Button (C3) for the cards base. I also set it for the 5 ½ size. I then made the layer function of the same size to give a border around the outside of the card. The inside of the same cut was used on the inside of the card to decorate it. I love the yo-yos on the front and made them with the striped paper from the Florentine paper packet. Different borders made different sizes and patterns. So cool with little effort!

Sympathy Card made with Pemberley Papers

_3186960 pemberley butterfly sympathy card (Small)

It seems like forever since I posted a card.  :)

I did a few things to give visual interest to this card. First I used an Embossing folder to emboss the white layer on the front. I then went around the edge of it with my finger dauber and Outdoor denim ink. This outlines the white on white I had going. I punched a couple of flowers out of cardstock and added a butterfly as a third element. I only glued the body of the butterfly down so I could bend the wings to make it look like it was flying.

Another thing I did was use the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge to cut out the focal point frame. I used the Shape7 Image at size 2 ¼ in white and then the layer function in Outdoor denim at the same size. I added some brads in the little holes on the side to hold it together.

One last thing I did is a little hard to see in a photo but on the patterned paper I used a little dab of liquid glass on the brown dots. When it dries you will feel little spots of raised clear dots.

I am really impressed with the way this album turned out. I fell in love with the paper kit when it came out in the Spring 2012 Close To My Heart catalogue. Also the Color Ready Garden Wooden Shapes make the cover of my album stand out. Just Beautiful.

My Toopie…

_2056641 my toopie (Medium)

I knew I had a couple of 5x7 photos that I wanted to use so I went looking through my CTMH Sketch books and came across the sketch Jazzy Combination in the Imagine book. I used the basic sketch but I tweaked it to make it more my style.

I used the Pemberley paper packet as well with the general colors that coordinate to the paper but I also wanted to use a little bit of Sunset as it was the color of Goofy…or I mean Toopie’s shirt. LOL

For the embellishments I used the Color Ready Garden shapes and colored them with desert sand, then highlighted them with Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel. I really like this stuff. It goes on fine using the micro tip and you can spread it around with the same tip. I also left a little spot to either place a sparkle or a pearl.

I used liquid glass on all the dots in the background and Texture paper. Just a subtle little bit but it does look really nice in person.

Another thing I did was to make my title from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge but I want to weld the letters together so they are one piece instead of individual letters. To do this I went to the cricut website and downloaded their FREE program called Cricut Craft Room. You can do some pretty cool things there. You need to hook your circuit up to your computer and once that is done you can start playing. OMG…try it out for yourself is all I can say.

_2056643 detail (Small)

One last thing I did was I made the scalloped border with the corner rounder. I took off the guide that goes around the punch so I can punch a strip instead of a corner. I turned the punch over to the backside so I can see and punched starting at one side making sure to line up the little V at the bottom of the punch where your corner would normally go. Then I moved the punch over so I could just see where the last punch was made then moved it just a little farther, maybe an 1/8 of an inch, really guessing at the distance then punched again. I continued on doing this for the length of the paper. I think it turned out beautiful!

Lucy Workshop On The Go

_2266763 Maddison will always be my girl (Medium)

I made this layout loosely following the Lucy Workshop On the Go. I mean loosely, as I made several changes so that it barely resembles the original workshop. This is one thing I absolutely love about the workshops on the go. You have complete instruction to make the always fabulous layout or you can use the instructions as a starting point to make it however you feel like. One of the major changes was to use different background paper. I just like the flowery paper for this layout better than the one in the inst4ructions. I also did a different title, embellishment placement and even where I put the 2x2 photos. So you see, my own style.

Workshop On The Go

_B105826 novalee posing picture perfect (Medium)

This layout is made with the Roxie Workshop on the Go kit. These are really simple to make as all the instructions are provided in a full color brochure. They are also very flexible to make changes to suit your photos or your tastes.

One of the things that I did not really like about the instructions for this layout was the plain circle on the left hand page. It was too plain for me. So out comes my trusty old Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge! I really liked the look of the Circle4 image on page 51 of the booklet. I didn’t have a whole sheet of the paper that the instructions said to use so I went digging in my stash of paper and came across the notebook sheet from the Notebook paper packet. So that is what I used to cut out the Circle4 image at 9 inches.

One of the other great things about using only Close to My Heart paper is that it is so easy to mix and match different kits! You are not searching endlessly for papers to match with just the right shade of beige. A real time saver!

I also got to use the straight pins from the Bling assortment. They do come with little rubber stoppers to place on the back of the pin if you were wondering. I know I was happy to see the little rubber stopper as I bought some other pins from another company a little while ago and the did not come with the protector so I was scared that someone would get poked so I never used them.

5 Things Layout

_C286396 Five things (Medium)

For this layout today I used the Cricut Craft Room to weld my letters together. This program is really easy to use and it is FREE thorough Cricut (Provo Craft). I don’t get a lot of time to play around with this program but from what I have seen so far it is pretty user friendly.

I used the Art Philosophy cartridge to get my 5 things title from. I welded the word “things” together so it came out as one piece instead of 6 separate letters. With the weld feature you can do this to any title or saying you want to. And make it any size you want to as well. How cool is that?

I also used Photoshop and my wide format printer to print my journaling down the left side of page 1.

I am still waiting on a photo to be printed so I can place it in the right hand page.

Art Philosophy Layout

_B105830 cuba horse and buggy (Medium)

I really like this layout. It is not cluttered, has some simple lines and yet looks superb!

For the bracket I used the Art Philosophy cricut Cartridge that is exclusive to Close To My Heart. I cannot seem to say enough about this cartridge. There are 700 different images on it. Couple that with 6 different functions and many, many sizes you end up with thousands of images!  You can purchase the Art Philosophy Here

To make the bracket I used a sheet of 12x12 Pacifica Cardstock and the Square3 button on page 43 (or C3...third image on the third row). I cut this at 10 ¾ inches. I then cut another one using Colonial White cardstock and at 9 ¼ inches. I then layered them and attached them to the layout.

For the Flowers I mixed up a little bit of Sorbet reinker with pearl create a shade paint and painted it on my white flowers.

January Spotlight Blog Hop…Scraps

Welcome to the January spotlight blog hop. If you have come from   Nikki Geers Blog you are on the right track, unless you start here.

_C286409 maddison riding car (Medium)

This month we are spotlighting scraps. Scraps can mean a bunch of things when it comes to scrapbooking but I am going to focus on using the little bits of scrap paper left over from a favorite kit.

For this layout I used a 1.5 inch strip of cardstock and on it placed 1.25 inch squares of different papers that were in my Sofia paper kit to form a focal point across the layout.

One other thing I did was use a scrap of paper that was left over from a class I did. One of the ladies stamped the inside saying of her card in the wrong orientation (horizontal instead of vertical) so instead of throwing out that paper I used the other side to make a mask for my spritzed leaves. To do this I cut out the Leaves from my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge on the messed up cardstock. I used the negative space for my mask and spritzed it with sweet leaf reinker mixed with rubbing alcohol. So, another great way to use up your scraps.

And another thing I do with any leftover little bits of paper I have is I either cut something out of it using the Art Philosophy Cartridge or I use my punches to punch out a shape. I have these left over images stored in a little sand pail at the moment. I may find a better place for them sometime but the sand pail works for now.

Happy New Year and a Christmas Layout

_C036041 Christmas Time Believe WOTG (Large)

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas and New Years!  I know I did.  I also enjoyed this fantastic weather we are having.  I did get to make a few layouts during the holidays too!

I like the straight simple lines of this layout. Sometimes layouts get too busy and have too much going on and take away your attention on the photos. After all, we scrapbook to showcase our photos and story. So this layout keeps your attention on the photos first, then on the design of the layout. I will add my photos as soon as I get them back from the developer.

Here are a few things I did on this layout:

· I stamped the Santa Image onto the layout with Archival Ink and then colored it in using my water brush and Holiday Red ink and Topiary Ink. My water brush was on the dry side so the archival black ink did not run.

· I traced the Dimensional Elements Stars onto my patterned paper, cut them out then used liquid glass to adhere the stars to the paper. I sanded the edges with my finishing files then finger daubered ink around the edges.

· I cut out my title on my cricut using the Art Philosophy Cartridge. Size was 1 inch.

· I placed the frame around the present.

· I inked our Color Ready Kraft Borders with New England Ivy Ink and attached them to the layout.

Using Postcards on Layouts

_B105841 washington at night (Medium)

Do you ever take photos of places you seen on a holiday only to get home and find out that they did not turn out? That is what happened to me when I went to Washington in 2010. It was a good thing I bought a packet of postcards, so that is what I scrapbooked this page with.

While I was in Washington I also picked up a couple of brochures of the places that we seen. So I made the left hand page into a pocket page. That way I can store the brochures and extra postcards with the pages.

To do that all I did was make the layout as I normally do then cut the top off just above the striped piece. Then I glued that onto another 12x12 base page and only glued the sides and the bottom leaving the top with no adhesive so I can tuck my brochures in. So my title is actually on the back base page and the rest is on the front of the pocket.

Making a Bracket using Art Philosophy

_B105828 barry and coffee (Medium)

This was a fun and easy layout to make. I made the Bracket shape on my Cricut with the exclusive to Close To My Heart Cricut cartridge Art Philosophy.

To Make the bracket I used a sheet of 12x12 Pacifica cardstock and punched in the Square 3 shape on page 43 of the booklet or (C3…third image on the third row) and cut it at 10 ¾ . I then used the same image but cut it at 9 ¼ for the Colonial White bracket. I cut off the right side of the image and placed it onto my layout. Fairly simple, but yet makes an impact on the layout.

I also used up some of my older nail heads that have been in my stash for 4 or 5 years. It is time to use them up! I challenge you to make a layout and use something that has been in your stash for years too, be it paper or flowers or eyelets!

Art Philosophy and Typeset = One Fine Day

_9295692 1 fine day (Medium)

I had fun making this layout because I got to play a little bit with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge Exclusive to Close To My Heart. I cut out the Fancy Square focal point in the center of the layout using the green patterned paper and I cut it at 10 ¾ inches. Then with the numbered patterned paper I cut the same image only a little smaller at 9 inches to make it fit perfectly inside the first one. I also cut 3 stars at 1 ¾, one at 2 and the other one at 2 ¼ inches. But one of my favorite things I cut was the fancy square shape at 1 ¼ inches then I stamped perfectly inside with the UR Special image from the Typeset stamp set. How cool is that?

Another thing I did on this layout was to paint pearl paint on some of the milepost shapes and right on the base pages to add a little highlighting.

Scrapbooking with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For this layout I used the Final Act Sketch from the Magic book. I did quite a few changes to the sketch as it didn’t fit my photos, but that is what I like about the sketches, they are adaptable to the way you want to use them. They are just like a starting point, A little inspiration.

I also used the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to cut out the large mat on the left page. I cut this out at 10 inches (on the size dial) and it cut it in a rectangle, 10 long and 8 or so wide. For the patterned piece on the right page I wanted the same look but I didn’t want a huge rectangle I only wanted a one inch border. So I cut my paper at one inch wide and temporarily glued it to the mat I cut out on the cricut lining up the outer edge, turned it over so I could see the half circles then took my one inch circle punch and cut. I hope that makes sense.

Pumpkin Patch

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Warning: This is not a 15 minute layout!

I seen another Close To My Heart consultant (sorry cannot find it again) made a layout similar to this one and I just had to scrap lift it. I used a lot of the same things she did but I did make quite a few changes to mine.

I used the Dreamin paper packet for this layout but I did not have any of the blue patterned paper left so I made my own. To do this I used plain Pacifica cardstock and the square dotted stamp that came with the Dreamin Workshop on the go stamp set. I inked up the stamp with colonial white pigment ink and randomly stamped onto the cardstock. I then took my Clear embossing powder and sprinkled it all over the piece. Heat set it with my heat gun, and my very own patterned paper was created.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For the title “pumpkin patch” I used the art philosophy cricut cartridge exclusive to Close To My Heart and cut out the letters onto desert sand cardstock. I wanted them to have some texture so I used the same stamp as I did on the blue background piece and stamped onto the letters with chocolate ink. I then placed my brads into the holes that were automatically cut with the cricut. (This was very time consuming but made the letters stand out so much) I then took my Desert sand marker and traced around the letter edges to define them.

I also used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out the leaves then used the stamp from Harvest happiness, to stamp directly onto them.

The bracket around my little pumpkin Novalee was also cut with Art Philosophy.

The pumpkins and attached leaves were stamped with the Harvest Memories stamp set and cut out by hand.

All papers were distressed with Chocolate Ink and a finger dauber.

A Layout made with the New Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge!

This was a really fun layout to make. I got to play with the new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. This cartridge is exclusive to Close To My Heart, you won't find it at any other store for purchase.

I cut out the leaves on colonial white cardstock and then I stamped the coordinating leaves using a variation of the rock and roll technique. To do this I inked up the leaf stamp in goldrush ink. Then I dabbed on some color using Autumn Terracotta and Chocolate. I even used a bit on Olive too son a few of the stamps. This gives you a one of a kind look to the ink and leaves.

I also cut out the Blue patterned paper from the Art Philosophy Cartridge. So fun…

All supplies are from Close to My Heart unless otherwise noted:

Colors are Twilight, Goldrush, Autumn terracotta, Bamboo and Chocolate.

To cut from Art Philosophy:
Leaf 2 B4 size 2”
Leaf 4 D6 size 1 ½”
Leaf 1 E2 size 2 ½”
Shape 8 C7 size 11”

One the keyboard I have named each key separate. What I did was name each row A, B, C, D and E starting at the top going down. Then I named each one across from 1-10. So 4 down and 6 across is D6. I hope that makes sense to you.
