Paper Pleats

Finally a card! It seems like I haven't made a card in like forever. It is funny how you go in stages and lately I have been in a scrapbook frenzy. There are so many pictures of my family that were taken last year. And my heart is really about scrapbooking...but card making is fun too.
On Sunday I will be teaching a technique class and this is one of the cards that we will be doing. While the card has a few different techniques, the one we will be focusing on is the paper pleat at the bottom. While I won't be giving instructions here, you can attend the class and get written instructions as well as practicing on a sample piece before you make the card. We will also be doing two different techniques as well...sanded serendipity and dying paper flowers. You must attend to get a look at these cards. I only have two spots left if you would like to attend. Give me a call.

Fixin Fence

On June 23, 2007 a F4 Tornado went through our property. It missed our house by half a mile but it went through our pasture and tore up a half mile of fence. There were some storm chasers from down south that were following the storm and placed some video on their website a few days following. Most of the video is over our pasture and the cows you see are ours. So my hubby and I were out fixin fence the next day.

My Mom, My Friend

It doesn't seem like I scrapbook too many things other than my Granddaughter lately so I did this layout of my Mom. She turned 75 last year (I will get to those pictures sometime...). She loves to scrapbook and make cards too. Both my daughter and my son's girlfriend scrapbook too.
It is wonderful that we get to share that.
For the flowers on this layout I used actual flowers on the patterned paper that came with this kit and cut them out. What a great idea to get something to match. Sometimes we forget to look at the things right in front of us to use. I also used a pattern out of the Imagine How To Book...Ensemble Piece on page 40. This also uses the January Stamp of the Month True Friends.

Imagine Blog Hop!

Today we are doing a blog hop where we will show you different layouts and ideas for using the Imagine How - To Book. There are 14 blogs to showcase this great book.So if you can from Kristie Herdener's blog you are travelling right along!
This is truly one of the three wonderful how to scrapbook programs that Close To My Heart has.
They provide hundreds of ideas for gorgeous and balanced layouts. It features 50 two-page 12x12 layouts complete with cutting diagrams, detailed assembly instructions, full-color artwork and plenty of clever techniques for beginners to experts.
My layout today is done following the Small Packages blueprint on page 74 of the Imagine book. If you look at the book, you will notice I switched my layouts around because I wanted the right layout on my left side. I also wanted to use one big photo instead of 9 smaller ones on my left hand layout. That is the great thing about these books, you can do that! That is why you can get so many combinations out of these books. And with different papers and embellishments even the exact same blueprint will be different!
All supplies are Close To My Heart.

My Brag Book

This is a cute little book I made to go inside my purse. There have been so many ask me for photos of my granddaughter that this book seemed just perfect for this.
On the spine of the book I used rub - ons to spell her name. This turned out better than expected! I have not used too many rub - ons in my day. I am sure that I will be using them more.

I won't post the rest of the photos but there are about 16 pages to hold lots of photos.

My Weekly Planner

I have never been one to write in a diary or anything like that but I really liked the weekly planner that Close to My Heart has. Then a while back another Close To My Heart consultant made one to inspire me. So My New Year's Resolution is to try my best to faithfully keep a journal with the pages of my weekly planner.
On the inside pages I plan to add photos of any milestones or events that are happening in my life. I already have some photos taken for the last week but have not had time to print them out yet.

Grandpa's Strong Shoulders

This layout was created with the Felicity kit. It is still on special with Close To My Heart until the end of the month...while quantities last!
It has really cute papers that can be used for almost any occasion. I used a pattern from the Reflections book...main Frame 4 Square on Page 52. These pattern books are really awesome! It gives you all the steps to put together great layouts, including cutting directions, blue prints, and step by step directions for putting the layers together. I also used the Martha Stewart Punch around the page...Crown...for this layout. This was really easy to do...just punch the corners of your 12x12 then punch the border around the page and everything lines up perfectly. I will be using this more often in my layouts...I really like the look.

Photos, Photos and More Photos!

Every Boxing Day until January 3rd my photo processor has a 9 cent print sale. What a deal! I look forward to this sale all year. I do believe, that even though I went digital a few years ago, that photos should still be printed to be admired. So...800 hundred photos later...

Now with all these photos I dug out one of my new stamp sets, Save the Date D1386, and stamped the date on the back of all my photos with stazon ink.

Now, I did not get too technical with the date only the month and year. I did not worry about the exact day.

I sorted all the photos into chronological order and placed them into my photo albums. You can see this picture at the top. On the spine of these albums I made tags with the year on them and labels as to the occasions or events like Lake Photos, Christopher and Becki's Wedding, Family Photos etc. This saves a whole pile of time when you go hunting for a certain photo. I did discover this system when I took a Library Of Memories Class taught by Stacy Julien at Big Picture Scrapbooks. It was one of the best classes I ever took and well worth the money.
So...this is where I have been spending my time the last couple of days. Now that I am done I will get some time to do more scrapbooking.
