The Greatest Gift Is Family

_A025707 reston park family photos (Medium)

The Sonoma paper packet makes lovely layouts. I just love working with it.

This is a layout made from a design in the Magic How To Book, Disappearing Act. Using these sketches are so easy. Follow the paper cutting directions, and placement of them on your layout, then attach a few embellishments, your photos and you are done. For embellishments I used my cuttlebug and cut out the large circle and used my Smokey Plum cardstock to cut out a lacy circle for a mat. I also used some crystal flowers I got from Michaels.

Family..today and everyday

For this layout I used the Dreamin papers. These papers now come double sided and cardstock weight and it was so hard to choose which side I wanted to use. So after much flipping of the papers I decided that this combination looked best. I paired this paper with the coordinating My Stickease and the Harvest Charms. Close To My Heart makes it so easy to do this when they make embellishments to match. The only stamping done on this layout was the date.

Meet Baby Maddison

Please meet the newest member of my family.  This is my granddaughter Maddison Ciara Flannery.  She is the darling daughter of my son Terry and his better half Jessica.  She was born on March 8th at 11:34 PM and weighed in at 6 lbs 13 ozs.  (By the way...that is the exact weight her daddy Terry weighed when he was born too!) Stayed tuned for lots of scrapbook layouts featuring baby Maddison.

One Year Old!

It is hard to believe that my granddaughter had her 1st birthday already.  Time sure flies...We had a nice party for her out at the lake.
I like the way the Hooligans paper packet went with the birthday photos.  it was a lot of fun making this from the new How To Book, Magic.  The pattern is in there, but I did change it up a bit.
I also didn't have any sunset cardstock so I used White Daisy cardstock and my sunset ink pad and did direct to paper to make my own sunset cardstock.  I think it turned out beautiful, it has a bit of texture for depth.  And it is very easy to do if you find yourself without the right color of cardstock.

Amy's grad

Oh, my goodness, I had done these pages a while ago but somehow they got missed in my postings.  I really need a better system for my artwork.  Maybe this fall my computer will get an overhaul in organization...maybe...
Anyhow, I wanted to tell you how I did the frame around the Title and Amy's picture. I cut half inch strips of cardstock and  made a paper frame around the outside edge of the photo mat, placing it down with repositionable adhesive.  I took a sponge and dipped it in garden green ink, then swiped the sponge from the outside in towards where the photo will be placed.  I did all four sides.  Then I removed the frame and WALA I have a inked frame for my photo.
Again, I also used my trusty how to books for the sketch for this layout.

Bustin Out

Are these photos not cute! My granddaughter at the very young age of 5 months...yes 5 months...started crawling up the stairs. Sometimes she would try and turn around half way up them so we had to block them off for her. So we put this chair in front of the stairs hoping it would stop her. She did not like that...hence the name busting out! Oh, by the way she did figure out how to get around the chair. Smart little cookie.
This Sketch was taken from the evensong workshop on the go guide. I just love how you can use these sketches from the Workshops On The Go or from the How to books from Close To My Heart like Cherish and Imagine with different papers and different pictures and never know that the sketch was the same one. I will have to see if I can find the picture of the other layout I made using this same sketch.

My Travels to Ireland!

My Husband and I just returned from a beautiful holiday to Ireland and Scotland. One of the many highlights while there was having a pint in the Flannery pub in Ireland. I am sure these are long lost relatives of some sort! How cool was that! This is just a short post today as there is more to do since returning home but I just wanted to post a little bit of our trip. Stay tuned for more highlights

Happy Thursday!

Happy Thursday! I hope all is well with you. With summer arriving, we all seem to get busy so my posts might be a little irregular over the summer months. I know I have quite a few things planned that are going to keep me busy. I also have lots of scrapbooking and cardmaking I want to do so I will post when I can.
I am trying to scrapbook more of everyday life and more of my extended family rather that just occasions. So...Meet my Auntie Betty and Uncle Eugene. This is a fairly simple layout that incorporated a lot of embellishments and techniques. To start with I sponged Indian Corn Blue around the petals of the flowers to make the pop. I used my Scalloped Scallop border punch for a couple of the borders. I also used a top coat flourish right on top of the photo in the right bottom corner. It really made the photo stand out as that corner of the photo was on the dark side.

Building our Nest

I really like this layout. It uses the fabulous Felicity papers and stamps that was a special back in Dec/Jan. (I still have a kit left if anyone is interested). This is also a great family picture of all of us. That is very hard to get lately as everyone of us has different schedules.

Oh, those Toes!

My daughter and I took footprints and hand prints of my granddaughter. Oh, were they so small. I knew I had to scrapbook them. My daughter looked all over the Internet and finally found some non toxic baby nail polish in Fargo North Dakota and had a few colors shipped here. so, when Novalee was sleeping one afternoon she painted her little toe nails. How adorable is that! Anyways, here is the layout I made of this occasion. Hope you enjoy it.

Acrylic Scrapbook

This is an Acrylic Scrapbook I made of my Granddaughter Novalee. Sometimes these can be challenging as you have to plan your pages so you can see through to the pages further back. There wouldn't be much point in using acrylic if you completely covered the album. I did paint the edges of the pages with White Daisy paint mixed with Blush Reinker to match the papers I was using (I love so much that I can do that!)I also used rub ons on the "spine" on the last page so that you can see them right through to the front.

Novalee's Baby Album

This is the front cover of my Granddaughter, Novalee's Baby album. This is a Close to My Heart's 12x12 Linen Album. I really love these albums. They are soft and very well made and will last a lifetime. I also love the new Snapease System that our albums are coming with now. You no longer have to turn out the back screws to add more page protectors, you just lift off the snapease strip and add the pages. What a time saving feature. I do put on an album cover to keep sticky fingerprints off the fabric and to keep dust off it too, (yes, I do have a dust problem.... I don't know how it accumulates so fast...LOL). Anyways, All supplies are Close To My Heart.

Baby Shower Guest Book

Here is the Guest Book I made for my Granddaughter, Novalee's, Baby Shower.
It matches the diaper cake and the baby book that I also made using the Key to My Heart Paper Packet. Novalee's Room is done in a POOH Theme so that is why the Pooh and quote are in the book. Each of the inside pages has a different photo of Novalee making some pretty faces. Sorry, she is just so cute, I cannot help but say that her faces are so darn cute!
Thanks for looking and make sure to leave comments, I love hearing from you.

Baby Shower Diaper Cake

My Granddaughter, Novalee's Baby Shower is on Sunday. I made this Diaper Cake for part of the decorations. It is made out of the Key to My Heart Paper Packet. I had also made my daughter a Baby Book made out of the same paper that I gave to her back in February to track all the progress of pregnancy and birth. I also made the guest book for the Baby shower out of the same paper that I will post in another post later this afternoon.
I did not have any instructions to make this, but i did remember seeing one somewhere in my blogging travels so I had an idea of what one should look like. I did use two different sizes of diapers that I individually rolled up and tied. Then i made a paper chain for the band around the diapers and added lace, flowers and some string pearls. I hope you like it.

More Pictures of Novalee

Here are some more pictures of my beautiful granddaughter Novalee.
I cannot believe she is already a week old! My how time flies. She is growing so much everyday. The top picture she is in her swing, which she loves. The middle picture is Me with Novalee. I get to spend lots of time cuddling her. I spent the first few days with them at their home then they came to my house for a holiday and are still here. There is no doubt that they get to stay as long as they want.
The bottom picture is my daughter Amy with her new baby.
Family is so precious!
Stay tuned for lots of scrapbook layouts featuring Baby Novalee!

Meet My 1ST Granddaughter!!!!

This is why I have been quiet here for a little while. My daughter gave birth to my first grandbaby on Tuesday August 4th at 11:11 pm. Novalee Rae Hardy was 7 lbs 1 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. I was with her the whole time through labor, delivery and the next day and a half in the hospital, and I am still with her at her home. She is just so precious! And she is a really good baby, not too much crying. I am going to have lots to scrapbook now! Better run now, grandma needs some cuddles!!!!
